Keeping It Short: Short story writing course
Our 8 part online short story writing course, ‘Keeping It Short’ will guide you through the stages of developing and writing your own original short story, with the aim to publish your story and become a published author.
Over the 8 sessions our lecturer, Nej will guide you through a window into another world. In this course, you will learn how to find the seed of an idea, nurture it and turn it into a fully formed short story, sharing ideas
Additionally, this course will provide an environment to share ideas, receive feedback and guidance to create the narrative you wish to write.
The areas covered in this course includes: story timeline mapping, what genres are best for you, character development, show doesn’t tell, writing dialogue, editing, and how to cretic
Each session will take you closer to the goal of completing your short story, which we plan to publish as part of an anthology of short stories.
This is a 16-hour course delivered online via Zoom | 2 hours a week for 8-weeks between 7pm and 9pm GMT on Thursdays. This course is non-refundable.

Nej SteerCREATIVE WRITING LECTURER
Nej is a science fiction and fantasy writer who is pursuing an academic career in threatcasting – using fiction to explore issues that society may face in the future. Her poetry has been published both in the UK and abroad. She has a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Aberystwyth University, and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Plymouth. Nej founded Start Somewhere Project in 2016, which shares the origin stories of established artists of all disciplines to promote the belief that art is for everyone.
